Welcome to AGSH. A wargaming blog dedicated to my Dad and the world's most noble hobby; collecting toy soldiers. Here toy soldiers clash in great battles from scales of 3mm to 54mm. Also the historical records of the imaginary states of the 6mm Republic of Prussia, the Kingdom of Aksum, the Principality of Huack, the Khedivate of Turkoslavia and the Duchy of Saxe-Huack.

"Truly it can be said of him, without count are his soldiers & beyond measure his might." - Prince Edward in reference to Lord Butler & his invasion force departing London for Mars.

Ancient Warfare

"The study of ancient history is as much about how we know as what we know, and engagement with all the processes of selection, constructive blindness, revolutionary reinterpretation and willful misinterpretation that together produce the 'facts'... out of the messy, confusing. and contradictory evidence that survives."
~ Mary Beard, Cambridge  Classicist

Here is a showcase of my classical age toy soldiers and campaign notes.

Campaigns and Battles
It is my intention to run a series of battles for a campaign set in the following periods.
Caesar's Gallic Wars: Scale 6mm. I want to follow this as close as possible to the histories available.
Second Punic War: Scale 6mm. Battles both real & imagined.
Egyptian Wars of Conquest: Scale 6mm & 1/72. Khadesh and an imaginary Egyptian campaign to conquer the Eastern Mediterranean.
Roman Conquest of Britain: Scale 6mm. A series of mostly imaginary battles to raise the Eagle in Britannia.

Alexandrian Macedonians.  My first serious ancients army.

6mm Early Imperial Roman Army. At one time I had planned to collect an entire legion in 6mm but that whim has since passed.

15mm Early Imperial Romans based up for One Hour Wargames.

15mm Celts/Gauls.
