Welcome to AGSH. A wargaming blog dedicated to my Dad and the world's most noble hobby; collecting toy soldiers. Here toy soldiers clash in great battles from scales of 3mm to 54mm. Also the historical records of the imaginary states of the 6mm Republic of Prussia, the Kingdom of Aksum, the Principality of Huack, the Khedivate of Turkoslavia and the Duchy of Saxe-Huack.

Saying Goodbye to my 2nd Wargames Table

My war room is small and I only had space for a 4'x4' game table, so I set up this older table below in the garage.  Where it is taking up too much space.  We are in the hunt to buy a pop up camper so it will need to be parked in the garage when not in use.  So I am selling my table and all the terrain on it.  I've posted it on the local game clubs page and will ask to put up a flyer at the local game shop.

D&D Adventure Game: Castle Ravenloft

Today my son James and I played our first game of the D&D Boxed Game Castle Ravenloft.  The rules are a bit vague which caused lots of confusion but we trudged through.  Things are tough in Castle Ravenloft and as you can see from the pictures the game didn't last long.  In fact it took longer to unpunch all the cardboard pieces and set the game up then it did to play.  However it's D&D and that simply brings fun to the table.  I think we'll need to modify the game with some house rules to make play flow more smoothly.   I paid $65 for the box about 2 years ago and it was worth it, it comes with a load of 25mm miniatures.

James was the mage and I the dragonborn fighter.

First monster, a zombie!

Another zombie!

Every room had a trap!

Spiders, killed us. The end.

COMBAT WW2: 7th Panzer Div vs. The October Guard

Today the 1st Bn, 25th Reg, 7th Panzer Division engaged elements of the October Guards of the Soviet Army on the Eastern Front.  Our valiant troops brought victory and honor to the fatherland.  This was a short 15 minute battle of 60 points per side.  My son James, below, had the Soviets.  We both advanced and quickly engaged, his bigger tanks immobilized my half-track but my Pz 1 tanks ate up his infantry and sealed the game for the 7th Panzer Division!

Reaper Con 2013

My son and I travelled the 6 hours down to Reaper Con last week.  We traded some metal, played some games, painted some bones and picked up my Vampire Kickstarter Box.  We also attended the 7:30 show at Medieval Times Thursday night.
